The Cornish house was one of the most popular pre-reinforced concrete built construction from 1946-1960’s. In 1985 the BRE investigations, proved that the design was defective, due to chlorides in the concrete, which causes corrosion of the steel reinforcement.

To help overcome these problems, Britmet Lightweight Roofing System, massively reduces the weight on the existing structure, greatly improving the Life Span of the building, giving an aesthetically pleasing finish, increasing energy efficiency, with new insulation installed throughout the new roof construction, greatly reducing the residents heating bills.

Britmet Lightweight Roofing was specified for the replacement of the roof and mansards producing special tapered flashing to finish off around the window openings, improving the character of the building, and reducing the need for lead, which is high valuable and liable to theft.
